. >> the homeless have set up a huge tent city. they keep growing near the san jose airport. what the city plans to do. mornings on two starts now. >> complete bay area news coverage starts right now. this is ktvu mornings on 2. >> welcome. i'm dave clark. >> i'm tori campbell. it's thursday february 21st. breaking news from las vegas. three people are dead and three are hurt after a gun battle between two cars right on the las vegas strip. you are looking at live pictures of las vegas boulevard at flamingo road where the shooting happened this morning. people in two cars exchanged gun fire before one of the cars hit a taxi cab. the taxi burst into flames killing the driver and the passenger. the driver of the car was also killed. three other cars were involved in the wreck and as the camera pans out you can see traffic at a halt at that intersection. no traffic at all getting through that area. again breaking news from las vegas. three people killed in a rolling gun battle on the las vegas strip. stay bus for continuing coverage. >>> and dramatic new twists in the blade runner case over nigh
. >>> an unprecedented tragedy in santa cruz. two veteran police officers shot to death. they are the city's first officers to be killed in the line of duty. we have team coverage. ktvu's janine de la vega is learning more about the officers and getting community reaction. but we begin with tara moriarty with new information on the shooting and the suspect. tara? >> reporter: we understand the suspect lived a couple of houses down the street. behind me is actually doyle street. police say after the suspect killed two officers over on branciforte drive, he came here and it appears he was shot in front of this garage. now, there were too many bullet holes to count. several garages are strung together in this complex and at least half of them were riddled with holes, chunks of one door even missing. we also spotted bullet holes on a nearby van. two cars were towed earlier this morning from the scene. one of them had two bullet holes through the front windshield. loren baker and elizabeth butler were both killed during a confrontation yesterday afternoon about a mile from the beach on branciforte aven

a deadly shooting that happened just a few hours ago. they tell us a man was shot in the city's western edition. alex savidge is live there now. what can you tell us so far? >> reporter: we are getting very limited information from police this morning. that is because it's so early on in this investigation. a sergeant that was out here confirmed a man was shot and killed. he was found right over near this corner. near the intersection of hayes and webster. an anonymous caller reported gunfire in this area around 2:00 this morning. we'll show you that video. officers were out here for most of the morning. police tell us the victim was rushed to the hospital after suffering at least one gunshot wound. he died there from his injuries. homicide investigators searching for the shooter involved here. a sergeant told me they don't have a description on the person to put out. in just a couple minutes ago i talked to one woman who told me she heard one gunshot and saw this crime scene. >> it sounded like a gunshot and i knew somebody was dead. police know that sound. it's bad. >> reporter: so as
